One of the most powerful, high-converting forms of traffic that you can generate is via word-of-mouth. Think about it for a moment…

When you use traditional advertising, you’re basically tooting your own horn. People tend to be a bit on the skeptical side with regards to your products or services. They put their defensive walls up. They think, “Well of course he’d say that – he’s trying to sell me something!”

But now imagine that this same prospect receives your advertising message from a friend. Maybe the friend says, “Wow – you need to check out that new sports memorabilia store on 10th Avenue. You’ll LOVE it!”

Will this prospect check it out? You bet! And that’s because someone he knows and trusts made the recommendation.

You understand now why word of mouth marketing is so powerful – and why you’ll want to make sure you put it to work for your business, too. Here’s how:

1. Create something worth talking about. People won’t talk about your business if it’s not buzz worthy. So if it’s not naturally buzz worthy (i.e., worth talking about), then need to create something for people to talk about.

Examples:

• A publicity stunt. Kick start the viral effect by sending out press releases, using social media to spread the word and advertising it.
• A contest. A big, exciting contest with awesome prizes tends to create a buzz. But if you create a contest that includes a referral component (e.g., “get an extra chance to win by telling your friends”), then your contest becomes even more buzz worthy.
• Something controversial or even offensive. Be careful with this one, as doing it the wrong way can alienate your prospects. But do it right, and you’ll draw then closer. For examples, just look at what partisan political commentators say on their radio shows and on their blogs.
• Something extremely unique, useful or entertaining. Here you can create a useful tool, report, video or other resource that your prospects are likely to pass around.
• An amazing deal. Create coupon codes to offer a “once in a lifetime” deal – then watch your prospects share these codes with their friends!

2. Make it easy to share. In other words, don’t create hoops.

Example: If you’ve created a viral video, then put it on YouTube.com so that people can access it and share it easily.

3. Give an incentive to encourage sharing. If you create something share-worthy (like a humorous video), people will naturally share it. But if you give people an incentive to share it, you’ll get even better results.

Example: The online bank ING often runs a referral promotion. The person who gets the referral receives $25 if they open a new bank account. But the person who provides the referral also gets an incentive if his friend joins: Namely, he too gets $25 deposited into his account.

4. Provide a call to action. Whether you’re incentivizing your word of mouth campaign or not, you still need to provide a call to action. This is where you specifically tell your prospects and customers to share your marketing message.

Examples:

• “Tell your friends about our new line of products and you’ll receive 5% off your next purchase every time one of your referrals becomes a paying customer!”
• “Give your Facebook friends a laugh – click here now to share this video!”

5. Offer tools to make sharing easy. Finally, you can offer tools to make it easy for your customers and prospects to tell their friends. Examples of tools include:

• Business cards, flyers or paper coupons that people can distribute.
• Social bookmarking buttons.
• “Tell a friend” forms.
• Facebook and other social media widgets (so people can share with one click).

1. Complete your profile.


When you first open your Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo or other social media site account, fill out your profile (including a picture). Doing so makes it easier for people to get to know you and build relationships with you, which will make it more likely they’ll click through to your site.


2. Interact.


Social sites are, by definition, social. They’re two way streets (not monologues). That’s why you shouldn’t just post content and move on. Instead, spend a few minutes each day interacting and getting to know people in your network.


3. Include a link to your site on your profile page.


This tip is simple but effective: Give people a reason to click through from the social media site to your blog or squeeze page. A promise of a free solution usually makes for a good enticement.


4. Ask your followers to “retweet” and repost.


If you create a “buzzworthy” post (such as a post on a hot or even controversial niche topic), as your Twitter followers to “retweet” it and ask your other social media networks to repost it.


5. Spend time each day growing your network.

There’s no question that building an affiliate program is THE best way to get a lot of free traffic to your web site.

“Find a motivated ‘affiliate manager’ and pay them 50% of all your profits”


Now, I know what you’re thinking – why in the world would I pay someone HALF of all of my profit?


I’m about to explain it to you. And believe me, this is worth the read, so pay careful attention to what I’m about to explain to you.


This is good.


It works like this…


1. Setup a separate website to process orders.


To begin with, you’ll need to setup a separate website to process all of the orders that your “affiliate manager” brings in (along with all sales generated by the affiliates he recruits for you)


In other words, you register a new domain that is similar to the title of your existing domain, and you host that site.nt for processing all of the orders and managing your new affiliate program that your “manager” will be overseeing.


This is a completely separate account from your existing one. All orders generated through this account will be completely brought in by your affiliate manager and affiliates / partners he recruits.


Now, obviously, your affiliate manager will want to monitor sales stats to see how much profit is being generated to this Clickbank account. You’ve got two options for how you allow your affiliate manager access…


Get full access to the control panel. Your first option is to allow your affiliate manager complete access to the control panel at Clickbank in order to monitor stats. I highly recommend that you ONLY do this if your affiliate manager is someone you know well and find completely trustworthy. Once someone has access to your Clickbank account, they can, in effect, take control of the account. Use this option with extreme caution.


Give email access and screenshots. The other option is to setup a forwarding email address that sends the sales notifications from Clickbank to both of your email accounts. This will allow your affiliate manager to get notified when any sale is generated so they can verify sales and profits. Additionally, at the end of each pay period, you could take screenshots of the Clickbank control panel or scan the check you receive from Clickbank when sending your affiliate manager’s half of the profits received.em on to your affiliate manager to use with the affiliates he has recruited for the separate program.


Hint: Encourage him to create his own unique materials, incentives, and contests for his own affiliates as well!

Make something that is going to grab people’s attention and keep them interested and end with a call to action. Don’t forget to put a link to your website in the video where people can see it clearly.

We’re frequently asked how people can get more traffic to their website, set themselves apart from their competition, and generate more leads for their business. Of course, there are many things that play a factor in this, but one of the simplest ways to do all of the above is with content.

Many of us already know this and use content readily, but every day we receive new questions from people who are desperate for traffic, yet aren’t utilizing content in their marketing strategy.

We’ve all been told content is king and we know it’s true in online business, but have you sat down and thought about why? What makes content the most important thing that a website owner needs to have in order to move forward with and grow their business? The benefits of using content go beyond just having a huge website with lots of information.

Let’s start at the beginning of the content journey.

Whenever someone sits down at their computer looking for information on a topic they go to their search engine of choice and enter a targeted phrase that describes the information they’re seeking. The more targeted content you offer your readers, the greater the chance of people finding you for the various phrases they enter.

Once they’ve found your content, they’ll read it and hopefully take your product recommendations and/or sign up for your mailing list…and thus a new relationship builds.

Even before you hold a call, people are willing to pay in advance for the transcripts and/or the recording of your teleseminar. And once you start selling something online, you can invite affiliate marketers to promote your teleseminar product for you.

In exchange for sending you traffic, you agree to pay a certain percentage of the profits – a simple arrangement that’s made very easy with software available today (ranging from free to quite expensive).

Affiliates then spend their time and energy sending you traffic and you can spend your time concentrating on holding an excellent teleseminar.

Online forums can be a good source for traffic. Now, I’m not suggesting that you spam forums, i.e. posting promotional messages.

I’m talking about contributing informative and helpful content in forums. And in your posts, you can include a link to your website in your signature.

Occasionally, you can link to a post on your blog that’s relevant to the discussion.

But here’s the problem with using forums to generate traffic… you have to keep posting to get traffic.

Any post you make or any thread you start will eventually be relegated to the second page and beyond to make way for new threads and posts. And once your posts get relegated, it won’t
be seen by the majority of the forum visitors.

So, it’s not a really effective traffic strategy in the long term. Well, here’s one strategy to help you get traffic from forums without writing a single post.

It’s a really simple strategy that has worked offline for decades.

*Organize a contest.*

Contests are a proven publicity strategy to generate buzz for your business and products.

So, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to organize a contest on forums:

1. Search for forums that share your target market. For instance, if you’re in the dog market, just type “dog+forum” in Google and you should be able to find a few forums for dog owners.

2. Tell the forum owners that you’re willing to sponsor a contest on their forum. You will offer your products and services as prizes. The goal of the contest is to encourage
participation in their forum. So, the person who makes the highest number of posts within a specified time (e.g. a month) will be the winner.

3. The forum owners will then post a sticky thread on their forum to announce the contest and the first post on that sticky thread should contain a link to your site. And the sticky thread will stay up on the first page of the forum for the entire duration of the contest.

So, when visitors arrive at the forum, they will instantly see the sticky thread about the contest. And when they read about the contest, they will see your website’s link.

And that’s how you generate traffic from forums without writing a single post.

Like a lot of online business owners, I have websites in all different types of niches. Therefore the more options I have for traffic generation, the better. Some methods may not fit for one niche, but it may be just the thing to flood another niche site with traffic.

I have read through the Traffic Tips Report several times and it seems each time I read it, I discover something I missed before. Some of these traffic generation methods are so simple, but so overlooked, it’s insane.
